Terms of use, AI disclaimer & privacy

Please read this before you create an account. It explains who we are, what our AI features can and cannot do, and how we look after your personal information.

1. We are not a school or the Department of Basic Education

Exam Papers is an independent, free study tool built by a private individual. We are not a school, college, tutoring centre, examination body, the Department of Basic Education (DBE), the IEB, or any provincial education department, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any of them.

Past papers and memoranda are published study material made available for revision purposes. We cannot register you for exams, issue results, certificates or statements of results, or give official rulings on marking. For anything official, contact your school or the relevant education department directly.

2. AI answers can be wrong — always double-check

Some features (summaries, practice questions, marking, flashcards, explanations and study plans) are generated by artificial intelligence. AI can be confidently incorrect: it may misread a paper, invent a fact, mark an answer wrongly, or misquote a memo.

Treat every AI response as a study aid, not as an authoritative answer. Always check AI output against the official memorandum, your textbook and your teacher before you rely on it. AI-generated marks and scores are estimates for practice only and are not an official assessment of your work.

To the extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any loss, marks or opportunity arising from reliance on AI-generated content on this site.

3. Using your account

Exam Papers is completely free and carries no advertising. Keep your login details private, give accurate information when you sign up, and use the service for personal study only. Please do not scrape, resell or redistribute the library in bulk, or attempt to break, overload or misuse the service. We may suspend accounts that do.

4. Privacy and POPIA

We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

What we collect: your name and email address, your sign-in method (email/password or Google), and the study activity you create — bookmarks, study lists, attempts, quiz results, progress and exam dates.

Why we collect it: to give you an account, save your work, personalise your recommendations, and understand overall usage so we can improve the service.

AI processing: when you use an AI feature, the relevant paper text or your question is sent to a third-party AI provider to generate a response. Do not paste identity numbers, contact details or other sensitive personal information into AI prompts.

Sharing: we do not sell your personal information and we do not run advertising. We share data only with the service providers that host the app, database, file storage and AI features on our behalf.

Your rights: under POPIA you may ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, object to processing, or ask us to delete your account and data. Email us and we will action reasonable requests.

To delete your account, use our account deletion request page or email us. We action deletion requests within 30 days.
